Class Pet Pack FREEBIE

In my classroom, as an extra incentive for positive whole group behavior I use "Class Pets". A fabulous addition to any behavior plan! My mentor during student teacher suggested it to me! I used it when teaching pre-k & I am using it in the first grade this year! I have six tables of 3-4 students each. Each table has a paper fan hanging above it with their table number on it. Throughout the day, I consistently give points to whole tables for following directions quickly and quietly. I give the "points" by adding a clothes pin to the paper fan! I used to do points on the board & then saw the fabulous idea of the clothes pins
(forgot who :((( ) and quickly set that up instead!

On Friday afternoon, the whole class looks around and decided which group gets to take the pets home! The table with the most points gets to take one pet home per student for the weekend.

Each stuffed pet lives in one of the polka dot bags (Walmart $0.97/each) along with its coordinating composition notebook, pencil bag with pencils and crayons! The students take the pet with them anywhere their family goes during the weekend and then writes and illustrates one page about their weekend adventures together. One student reads their entry at the end of the day Monday-Thursday. Then on Friday, a new group takes them home! I absolutely love using this as a reward because it gets my students excited to write collaboratively, be responsible for materials, & excited to read their written work aloud!
